BR built only 160 Gunpowder vans, and although they retained the RCH standard of only being 16ft. 6in over headstocks the final 40 had a 10ft. wb, the final 25 having clasp brake. The first 65 were built unfitted but the survivors were all converted to vacuum brake. The conversions have the vacuum cylinder placed unusually deep, suggesting there was additional bracing on the frame which prevented it being placed immediately below the door. From 887066 onwards the vacuum cylinder is higher up. These also have additional protective plates around the brake linkage http://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/brgunpowder/e3e1c7677
