Mineral wagons with 2 side doors and an end door built new between 1961 - 63 for British Railways with Vacuum brake. A 1,000 with ordinary VB were followed by 3950 with self-adjusting brake. Late in life some were given an air pipe, denoted by the TOPS code MDW. Drawings and other details are in Larkin, David & Mann, Trevor (1983b) British Railways 21 ton Mineral Wagons. Model Railway Constructor vol. 50 (part 595) pp 637 - 641. and Bartlett et al 1985.
A few were purchased for use as scrap carriers by Christie and Co. This was only for a short period of time.
NOTE – The photographs with a caption ending in 'm' are low quality scans and may not print well. I will sustitute rescans for larger prints but this may delay production.
