BR built many different styles of open merchandise wagons. These photographs are of a single batch of Southern Railway style ones built in 1950 and allocated diagram 1/034, B477050 – 477649. They had all wood bodies and originally lacked continous brake, which most received in the vacuum braking programme of the mid 1950s
