Associated Octel operated from Stanlow on the Manchester Ship Canal providing additives for petrol etc. It served many places in Europe and had a fleet of tank wagons registered to pass on the ferries. They were kept in good condition and underwent modifications, including down grading for use internally in Britain (see other collection) so their history is complex. As with all other hazardous freight the movement was killed off by the opening of the Chunnel and soon afterwards AO ceased using rail!
