A new potash mine opened Boulby on the Cleveland coast in 1973 and a fleet of 34 covered hopper wagons were provided for traffic to Tees Dock and beyond. Also a more recent David built JGA.
Attractive when newly repaired, the potash can cause considerable erosion, and the top doors were removed during the 1980s.
