The international introduction of 9ft. 6in high containers was a serious problem for BR & Freightliner, as marine traffic was increasingly important, and these were out of gauge. This early experiment, known as the Prologie, was unsuccessful. The small bogie and small wheels with inside bearings proving to be unacceptable. By 1989 more positive experimental wagons led to the introduction of sets of low height container wagons.
