From 1972 the quarrying companies of the West Country began modernising their wagons fleets. This collection contains some of the 2 axle hopper wagons introduced by Amey Roadstone Construction during the 1970s and includes rebuilding of some during the 1980s. Note the wagons photographed at Frome in June 1979 were on delivery and it is unlikely they were used in traffic without handrails on the high platform.
