Following the success of the prototype BR built 800 OBA, planned as a replacement for Tubes, they have high ends, turnover bolsters on the floor and extending side stanchions. The first 500 Ashford built have doors of different lengths. The second lot had doors of the same length and were introduced with Bruninghaus suspension, a retrospective modification fitted to many of the first lot. Cambrian make a 4mm kit of the Shildon build, and Bachmann a RTR of the Ashford build
