One batch of the unfitted Plates were allocated from new in 1951 to the S&T engineers and given a number series in the departmental fleet - DB997500 - 997535 and fleet name 'Winkle'. Later, although many 'Plates' built for the revenue fleet transferred to the engineers there is no evidence they had this name branding. Chester S&T had a unique lettering style with many of their wagons and their Winkles are quite striking. Some different ways to finish those Parkside kits!
