The Black-mandibled Toucans (Ramphastos ambiguus) were along the Mangroves of the Tarcoles River and also at Laguna del Lagata. I have used the nomenclature of Garrigues and Dean, which accepts that this population is conspecific with the one in parts of South America. Previously the Central American population was called Chestnut-Mandibled Toucan (Ramphastos swainsonii).
