BR introduced 52 of the small Lowmac EK, which had a payload of only 14t. They were based on a GER design and allocated diagram 2/244. They were unfitted, but the surviving wagons usually have through vacuum and/or air pipes. Many were scrapped during the later 1960s with a few surviving, especially for electrification permanently equipped with digging etc. equipment. Prototype of an Airfix/Dapol model.
