Following the introduction of 2 prototypes in 1977 (photo of one included) a new design of low sided plate wagon on a new frame design was introduced in 1979. Soon afterwards some were rebuilt or transferred to the Engineers (see other collections). Cambrian make a 4mm kit. Some unrebuilt Engineers wagons were transferred back to the main revenue fleet later by EWS. DBSchenker now own these.
