A huge complex, with Allied steel and wire (see http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/alliedsteelwire), oil loading facilities and granary. There was a large internal user fleet, much of which was for ASW traffic to be taken to for shipping. On a personal note I have always regretted not knowing the dock road was open for traffic when I was a student working out of Llanishen. It would have made life much easier and more entertaining! Photographic permits were available upon application.
