Esso introduced a fleet of monobloc design tank wagons in 1963. 410 were built by Chas Roberts, Pickering and Powell Duffryn. Remarkably soon they would be old technology, with their low 35T GLW and vacuum brake. They were withdrawn in the early 1980s, but many were held as a possible reserve fleet. Collection includes a few in BR engineers and internal user fleets and many detailed photographs.
