The GWR Pollen set originated as Gunsets (to carry the gun barrels of huge warships) before WW1. Converted in 1930 to two pairs of girder carrying wagons as Pollens they persisted for many years on BR as GirdwagWE. Now in the national collection and conserved at Didcot. In their later days they operated on BR with a facsimile of the earlier GW wagon livery and lettering.
