The Gunpowder van design stayed very similar throughout the C20th. The LMS had 195 vans, built unfitted. BR fitted vacuum brake to some, with the vacuum cylinder conventionally beneath the floor (unlike BR wagon conversion). These lasted until replaced by VEAs in the early 1980s. Body of an MR van included. All were only 9ft wheelbase, those branded XP and/or 10ft WB were wrong.
