Surprising survivors far from their origins in internal use at Falmouth Docks. In response to :
Bartlett, Paul W. (1997) Mineral wagons at Falmouth docks Journal of the Historical Model Railway Society 16 (part 4), pp 130 - 131. M R Grocock responded that Dr. Scott noticed these during the 1970s but the Falmouth company only knew "they were purchased many years ago from a mainline company". They are believed to have been built in the 1870s for the Stockton and Darlington Section of the NER (Central Division). A 1969 photo shows one being used to coal an steam shunting loco. The NER cushion wheels are interesting, presumably fitted later.
