A new potash mine opened Boulby on the Cleveland coast in 1973 and a fleet of 34 covered hopper wagons were provided for traffic to Tees Dock and beyond. Also more recently built Davis JGA and Arbel Fauvet JGA for NACCO.
Attractive when newly repaired, the potash can cause considerable erosion, and the top doors were removed during the 1980s.
