During the 1980s BR hired three sets of railgrinders, two are illustrated here. They were a complete unit, with their own locomotive and crew dormitories etc. From Italy they had Italian crews. BR also hired a single unit for grinding points etc. DX79206-10 were disposed 6.89, 79211 - 14 returned to Continental Europe 1992-3, DX79500 was scrapped 8.2002. Other rail grinders are now operated by Network Rail such as DR79261 & 79271 & DR79262 & 79272 79401 - 404
