A delightful period of recent railway history when the BR freight business was broken into various sectors related to what each carried, and had very attractive liveries, which were applied to some unusual structures. Launched in October 1987 subdivided into sub-sectors; coal, petroleum, metals, construction and Railfreight distribution
with further modifications in 1993 into three main sectors Load-Haul, Mainline Freight and Trans Rail. All were subsumed into EWS in 1995.
