In the town of Uyuni alongside the largest salt flats in the world. A narrow gauge railway built to carry minerals and people went to across the mountains to Sucre which is closed, but many remains can be seen alongside the road. The railway remains open to the coast and apparently has occasional use. There is a railway museum in the town - not visited on this brief birding trip.
