BR built 23 wagons on two lots of these, and both were caught after condemnation. Rarely photographed, they had 4 heavy side doors and internal compartments but, despite much speculation, the main use is not confirmed. They were allocated for use by the Railway shipping line, and it is probably they carried boiler "sludge" although it may simply have been refuse (or both?). Both were allocated to Dover Marine.
